E-invoicing: 2 out of 3 Flemish companies are still not compliant
31 oct. 2025

About 34% of the Flemish VAT-registered businesses are connected to Peppol
One third of all Flemish VAT-registered businesses are currently connected to the Peppol network. This makes Flanders perform twice as well as Brussels (16%) and Wallonia (12%).
Peppol is a digital network that allows businesses and governments to exchange their invoices safely and smoothly. From January 1, 2026, all Belgian businesses that are VAT liable must electronically invoice via Peppol. However, it appears that in Flanders today only 34% of companies can effectively send and receive e-invoices. Brussels (16%) and Wallonia (12%) lag even further behind, according to research by the AI-driven e-invoicing tool Cashfeed.
Antwerp Province leads the list
Those who zoom in on the provinces see Antwerp on top with a connection rate of 36%. Limburg (35%) and West Flanders (34%) complete the top three. Flemish Brabant (30%) lags a bit behind, but still performs better than the Walloon leader, Walloon Brabant (16%). At the very bottom, Luxembourg dangles with just 10%.

Stijn Heuninck, CEO of Cashfeed, clarifies: “Many businesses still have a significant catch-up to make. However, Peppol is the ideal way to process the flow of incoming invoices, for example. At Cashfeed, companies can categorize and handle a large bulk of invoices in one go through that network. The mandatory transition can therefore also be an opportunity to digitize and streamline the entire administration.”
Methodology
Cashfeed collected public data from all Belgian businesses from the company database of scale-up Bizzy on 01/10/2025 and checked whether they were already connected to Peppol. This was done through validation on www.peppolcheck.be. The companies were categorized by sector according to the NACE-BEL codes. Businesses that are only connected via the digital counter Hermes-SMP were not counted, as their connection to Peppol terminates on December 31, 2025.
