Why your Peppol inbox must be unique (and what that means for you)
Sep 29, 2025

Imagine: you learn that your existing Peppol tool is not entirely suitable for you. You are considering a few other options — have you considered Cashfeed? — and ultimately decide to switch.
Just like switching phone providers or moving addresses, this brings some implications. According to Peppol legislation, you can only place your "mailbox" in one location. Each Belgian company is identified on the Peppol network via its company number, meaning you can only be registered at one Access Point at a time. This prevents invoices from being sent (double) to different systems.
When your supplier wants to send you an invoice, their system consults the central Peppol directory. This directory indicates where your company is currently connected. If you switch providers, this registration must be updated.
Sending invoices, on the other hand, can come from multiple Peppol tools, as long as your invoices follow each other chronologically in numbering.
Switching Peppol Access Point? Here's how to do it without worries! 🔄
Back to that inbox. The legislation requires that you first unsubscribe somewhere before you can register with a new tool. And in this order. Hopefully, you still remember where you were registered; if not, you can also go to the Peppol Directory for this.
Changing your Peppol Access Point is really not that difficult, it's just that the option is not easy to find with every tool. We will go over some of the most prominent providers.

Sample Unsubscription Email
Subject: Unsubscription Peppol Access Point - [your company number]
Dear,
I would like to request that you unsubscribe my business from your Peppol Access Point.
Company Information:
Company Name: [Your official company name]Company Number: BE [your 10-digit number]
Please confirm when the unsubscription has been processed.
Best regards, [Your name]
It is best to actively follow up if you do not receive confirmation after 48 hours. If a provider does not respond after multiple attempts, you can also file a complaint with the FOD Economy.
Do you want to register immediately elsewhere afterwards? Keep in mind that with some tools it can take up to 24 hours for your unsubscription to be processed, and therefore before you can be registered again as a Peppol receiver. It is still unclear how invoices will be received during this interim period. Expecting an invoice? Then inform your suppliers about it.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to switch Peppol providers?
It can take up to 24 hours for your unsubscription to be processed after submitting the request. By this, we mean submitting the request to the Peppol Directory, not requesting your unsubscription by email from your tool itself.
Can I still receive invoices during the switch?
There is a short transition period of up to 48 hours during which invoices may go awry. Inform important suppliers about this.
Should I inform my suppliers about the switch?
Technically, no - the Peppol network automatically routes to your new provider. However, it is wise to inform your most important contacts, especially if you expect to receive an invoice from them.
How much does it cost to switch Peppol providers?
Most providers do not charge fees for unsubscription. There are no startup or implementation costs at Cashfeed.
